Carol and Dave Cassler celebrated two important anniversaries last week — their 27th wedding anniversary and the 10-year anniversary of Carol and Dave's Roadhouse.

Located on North Market Street in Ligonier for the last year and a half, the roadhouse boasts a diverse menu in a comfortable atmosphere. “We're very excited,” said Dave Cassler, “It's a milestone. I'm proud that we've come this far.” Both worked in restaurants since their teenage years. For them, owning their own business was the next logical step. “We love it,” said Carol Cassler. “It's nice that we get to work together. It's something we always wanted to do.” The Casslers said they have worked through the years to build up the business, always learning from mistakes and taking something positive out of every experience.

“It's a blessing,” longtime employee Trish Barbera said of the couple's success. “It's nice to see locals do so well.” In honor of its anniversary, the roadhouse held a week-long celebration that included specials on meals throughout the week and participation in an area radio station's Burgermania contest to find the best burger in the Laurel Highlands. “I think the contest coincided nicely with our restaurant's anniversary,” Dave Cassler said. Cassler prepared a specialty burger for the event — a 10 oz. steak burger on a nest of spring mix greens with smoked Gouda cheese, bacon, fried egg, topped with fried potatoes and onion straws and glazed with a specially made roadhouse sauce. “The burger was outstanding,” said customer Bitsy Donofrio of Ligonier. “They need to put in on the menu.”
